The project purpose
I want to write about global warming to show how severe this problem is, and look at how , why and when this happened and the causes and affects of it on animals, diseases, the next generations, prices, location of the cities, small islands and how will it affect the UAE if it continues at this rate I will also link some of the articles from Gulf News and Khaleej Times newspapers from the UAE and some blogs that look at this problem and comment on them. In addition I will include some personal activities that may help solve the problem as well as show, the opposite ideas rather than just telling the story from one side and show whether their theories are true or not. I will give evidence for my ideas and give solutions to this problem and all this will be organize in order to be easy and attractive to readers in the UAE and other nations.

An Inconvenient Truth Review
Al Gore takes you on board travelling around the world giving lectures to lots of universities, environmental groups, discussing Global Warming with businessmen and organizations to show "The Inconvenient Truth". This documentary also looks at personal and important points from Gore's life WERE he was Vice-President of US, the car accident that put the life of his son near death, his family's history as tobacco farmers, and the death of his sister from lung cancer that made his father stop producing tobacco.
This documentary is a call to stop global warming and Al Gore is certain that we can do things to solve this problem as an important challenge that is facing the next generation. Automobiles and coal-burning Power plants are the two main sources of carbon dioxide (CO2). As second is cutting and burning trees in the forests. At the end of the documentary when giving the credits there is also a list of some possible solutions that you can do as a group or individual.

Global Warming Definition
Global warming is the continuing increase in global temperatures caused by both natural causes, such as warming during an interglacial period, and from the increased release of human-made greenhouse gases into the air which includes carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and halocarbons (the replacements for CFCs). Those trap the sun's heat in the Earth's atmosphere. Resulting an increase in the volume of water which contributes to sea-level rise, these gases are caused, and released into the air, from burning gas, oil, coal, wood and other resources to create energy and also from industrial pollutants which then block heat in the earth's atmosphere and can’t escape. A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall status, a rise in sea level, and a huge influence on plants, animals, and humans. Extreme and quick changes in climate may take place, rather than just a slow warming in the coming years if we don’t start solving the problem together.

Global Warming Causes
Global warming happens because of certain gases, known as greenhouse gases (GHG) that are increasing in the atmosphere because of human and industrial activity. The main GHG is carbon dioxide which is produced because of the use of coal, petroleum and gas as well as by cutting and burning the forests. Nitrous oxide is produced by vehicle and industrial emissions while methane emissions are caused by both industrial and agricultural activities. Chlorofluorocarbons CFCs are highly damaging to the ozone layer as well as being a GHG that affects the globe. These are polluting gases that are increasing in the atmosphere and trapping more heat from the sun. At the same time oceans and vegetation absorb huge amounts of CO2, but their ability to act as 'sinks' is now exceeded by emissions. This means that every year amount of GHGs that stay in the atmosphere increases which makes the heat accelerate. The removal of trees reduces the absorption of carbons by the trees, is responsible for 20% of the increase of carbon emissions. Another factor that enters the circle is water (H2O) that evaporates because of the heat so it acts as GHGs and just warms the weather not blocking the sun's infrared from getting out of the atmosphere therefore more water evaporates which increases the temperature

Global Warming Effects
Weather
Scientists have discovered that hurricanes are more severe under warmer weather and high-CO2 conditions than under normal day conditions which mean global warming increases the number of hurricanes. Worldwide, the amount of hurricanes reaching categories 4-5 with wind speeds above 56 m/s – has risen from 20% in the 1970s to 35% in the 1990s
Evaporation
Evaporation will increase because of warmer oceans. This will cause heavier rainfall
Rise in sea level
With the increase in global temperature, the water in the oceans will expand in volume and this is happening to the
Glacier retreat
Glacier retreat has become increasingly rapid and comprised so much that it has threatened the existence of many of the animals and people who live there. This process has increased and become clear since 1995.
Agriculture
Some people think that global warming is good for agriculture because the weather will be warmer therefore a longer growing season will produce more fruit and that plants breath CO2 as we breath oxygen but others say that when it becomes warmer this will increase the evaporation of water which increase the amount of rain that will evaporate fast as well as the water in the soil which will make the plants weak so that any storm that will come will take it off the soil and makes the land unqualified for plants or any creature to lives in.
Fish stocks
The growth of fish near the water surface will increase because of rise in water temperatures, but it will decrease the fish at the bottom because of the fall of water temperatures there. Also the fish will have to move to other places so that they can live, which will make it harder for people to catch fish and economics will drop unless global warming pollution is reduced
Insurance
The insurance industry is very directly affected by the risks because of the increase in the number of natural disasters that has trebled since the 1960s.
Transport
Roads, airport runways, railway lines and pipelines, may need an increase in repairing and rebuilding as they become more affected by the increase changes in the temperature.
Migration
The people who live at or near the sea level will with time lose their homes so they will need to migrate to another country and this will raise the population and cause lots of problems
Health
The high temperatures will increase the number of people who die. For example; people with heart problems are at risk because their body system must work harder to keep the body cool during hot weather, heat exhaustion and breath problems will increase. Higher air temperature also increases the concentration of ozone at ground level which is a harmful pollutant. It damages lung and causes problems for people with asthma.
Disease
Global warming is expected to extend the infectious disease such as dengue fever and malaria

Practicable Solutions
Many People think they can’t do anything because if they do they will lose too much. Well this is not true. You can reduce the GHGs without sacrificing things that really count. I will discuss what you can do with your fridge to solve the increase in GHGs. One of the actions is increasing the performance of your fridge by placing it in a cool environment. This will save up to 150 kg CO2 per year. Further action is replacing your old fridge because the old fridges are much less energy-efficient than today's Energy Star models, this can save you over 227 Kg CO2 per year. Or buy one with automatic defrost cycles you will save about 210 kg CO2 per year. Also letting hot food cool down to room temperature before putting it in the fridge this will save about 6 kg CO2 per year. Another action is cleaning your refrigerator's coils, defrost regularly and keep the top clear of clutter, you can save over 318 Kg CO2 per year.

What Can The UAE Do?
It has to develop the transportation, like pay for new busses that don’t give lots of GHGs and put transportation for employees to go to work and find a new source of energy like solar energy so that we can reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and prevent using CFCs gases in the devices and use instead another cold gas that doesn’t affect the ozone. They can gather lots of scientists to work on this problem and find new methods to accelerate the planting in deserts.
As Individual UAE People
You can replace your normal bulb with a 19-watt.If your fridge is kind of old it will leak carbon and let’s face it, it won’t work well and you will lose you money because of fixing it lots of times and the food will not be safe, so just buy a new one that is much less energy-efficient. TVs, DVD players, computers and other entertainment are actually on, even when you press the off button because of clocks and standby mode, so just turn it off when not in use. If your house is old, but if you are having a new house you better put in your mind how to make it nice for you and for the environment. I’ll give an example. Buy air conditioners that use cold gases different than CFCs, to prevent the affect on ozone even if you have to pay extra. If you don’t want to do this then you can design your house to use less energy but with the best affect. You can do this by spreading air conditioners in the house but in lesser numbers, like instead of buying 16 you buy 8 and you have the same result this way you save money and the environment and when you buy them “the ones with CFCs I mean”. Don’t leave them unused because if you do leave them let’s say for two weeks the Chlorofluorocarbons CFCs, which are by the way volatile gases will start to exert pressure on the pipes that contains them because they are not oriented to else where any more, so they start to leak from breaches in the pipes which cause damage to the ozone layer and that itself rise the heat on the unprotected earth affected by the sun rays and this goes for all the devices that contains CFCs.
